It’s organized around ten short stories - vignettes of future life transformed by advances in AI and data science that cover how we will learn, amuse ourselves, live in cities, deal with pandemics and more. Each story is sandwiched between a non-fiction introduction and an epilogue that enable the reader to relate the likely trajectory of technology’s evolution to its impact on our social fabric. In so doing, the authors have created a new genre of “scientific fiction” that is sure to enlighten anyone who wonders where the heck this is all heading. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from John Tatler -- Best sci-fi of 2021. Go for it. : I don’t read much sci-fi, so I didn’t know what to expect. However, when I finally dug in, I couldn’t put the book down. I have to say, if anyone out there is looking for the best sci-fi of 2021, this is exactly the kind of book you should be considering. (In fact I am not sure if you can even call this book sci-fi. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from grahaknumber1 -- Fabulous book to start learning about AI, its subfields and its myriad applications. : Each story has analysis at the end which explains beautifully what technology and technical terms the chapters were about. I had no idea about AI Internet /finance applications, GANs, Natural Language Processing. The stories give one a real emotional understanding of the technology in use, and the analysis objectively describes how the technology works. It really is a great book if you want to understand AI. Thank you Kai Fu Lee and Chen Quifan, its an earnest and fantastic attempt at educating the masses about such a well known but scarcely understood topic. ( Reviewed in India on September 27, 2021 )

Mais ce livre ne serait qu’un autre recueil de nouvelles fictive s’il n’y avait pas les sections d’explications et de réflexions après chaque histoire. C’est à mon avis la force du livre d’allier les histoires concrètes aux discussions plus soutenues sur qu’est-ce que les grandes lignes de l’intelligence artificielle, comment celle-ci est actuellement et réellement développée et de soulever les enjeux humains et sociaux potentiels. A good utilization of AI will improve people’s life but there are many risks and problems to do it. If the evolution of these new technologies will make a better world or not it will depend on us.
